Untitled Prose 8

The sound waves shot from my throat move swimmingly through the clutter of trillions of atoms in the air. They climb toward the light of distant stars, carrying my voice in urgency. But the air grows thin, and my words disintegrate as the ground crumbles beneath my feet.

Evolve

God it fucking pisses me off the way people treat animals. Not just farm animals but cats and dogs, too. Thousands of strays are brought to the pound and euthanized every day just because no one adopted them yet and the pound needs to clear room for the next influx of strays. Fuck people! Animals have feelings, emotions, fears and joys, relationships! What the fuck is so hard to understand about that, or is everyone really as fucking heartless as it seems?! Compassion is rare, and I mean true compassion, and as biased as this may sound, I think veganism is a big indicator. Fuck the humanists who don't extend shit past their own species. Why are humans the only creatures so special? The only things that separate us from much of the animal kingdom are our capacities to think and communicate, but we don't euthanize (much less exploit) our mentally handicapped just because we don't want to deal with them! HOW FUCKING OBVIOUS CAN IT BE? ALL SENTIENT BEINGS DESERVE THE SAME. THERE IS NO WAY AROUND IT OTHER THAN BLATANT PREJUDICE OR FUCKING HEARTLESSNESS, AND BECAUSE I AM INCLINED TO BELIEVE IT'S THE LATTER, I HAVE NO FAITH IN HUMANITY.

Missing Pig

He haunts me like the strange piano down front in biology. I was sitting cross-legged in my parents' bedroom the last time I saw him, sorting my clean clothes from my brother's. He crawled into my lap with his droopy head and sat with me until it was time to go. He knew he was saying goodbye.

I am so, so sorry I left.

All Delighted People

Everyone's a monster, myself included, thinking I'm more deserving of any consolation than the rest. No one thinks about morality or right and wrong. They just take for granted the values their upbringings instilled in them. No one thinks about the other. No one cares about anyone who's not as unhappy as they are.

The sun was born, so it shall die.

The snow is just another veil for the dirt. I know that darkness will find me. I am softer than the rest. I am giving up. My only purpose of being here is to stay a bit longer.
